In an increasingly interconnected world, safeguarding digital assets and data has come to the forefront of many people’s minds. As our online landscape has expanded over the years, so have the threats and vulnerabilities associated with it. In 2004, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) recognized the urgent need to raise awareness about these rising risks. In response, Cybersecurity Awareness Month was coined.
This month-long reminder, now celebrated globally every October, serves as a rallying point for businesses and individuals to collectively prioritize and address escalating risks they face daily. Cybersecurity Awareness Month has evolved into a flagship event in the IT space, prompting organizations to facilitate discussions, share knowledge and collaborate to fortify against digital threats. It drives home the notion that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility that requires education, attentiveness, and collective action.
